Favicon is a website icon use to distinguish websites among browser. It is placed on a tab of browser and it is a file of .ico extension.

According to WikipediaA favicon (short for favorites icon), also known as a website icon, shortcut icon, url icon, or bookmark icon is a 16×16, 32×32 or 64×64 pixel square icon associated with a particular website or webpage. A web designer can create such an icon and install it into a website (or webpage) by several means, and most graphical web browsers will then make use of it

How to make a Favicon

There are several online tools to make a favicon, one of my favorite is Favicon Generator Tool.

You can make a cool favicon of your website or blog in JPG, PNG, GIF format and upload it online to Favicon generator tool. The website will convert that image file into .ico format and you can download the file by right click and save the link.

How to upload favicon to website or blog

Open your website files via FTP client such as Filezilla.

Search a folder Public_html.

Upload a favicon.ico file on the folder. You can simply drag and drop the file to this folder.

Now open this link http://www.yourwebsite.com/favicon.ico . It will show the favicon of your website or blog.
